3-Year-Old Girl Dead After Being Crushed by Birdbath
A 3-year-old South Carolina child has died after a birdbath fell on top of her.
The toddler, identified as Jasmine Denise Mickell, was pronounced dead on Mother’s Day, May 12, according to a case report filed by the Aiken County Coroner's Office and obtained by PEOPLE.
The report lists her suspected cause of death as “blunt force injury to abdomen with a suspected manner of Accident.”
Deputies from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after being advised that Mickell “was crushed by a bird bath." However, when they and EMS responders arrived, they “observed the family in the middle of the road with the child,” per an incident report obtained by PEOPLE.
First responders “took the child and began compressions,” the incident report adds.
According to Atlanta’s WSB-TV, the fatal incident happened at a Warrenville, S.C. home. The city is located about 15 miles from Augusta, Ga.
Mickell was transported to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, reports Augusta outlet WRDW.
No one has been charged in the child’s death, which deputies called a “tragic accident," per WSB-TV.
A GoFundMe set up for Mickell had reached almost $600 of its $1,000 goal, as of Thursday, May 16.

“She brought joy to anyone that she met. Even though she was only here for a short time, the impact that she had on people will never be forgotten. She loved honey grahams, candy, swimming, and trips to the park,” an obituary for Mickell read.
The toddler is survived by her parents, Alex Baxter and Brianna Jazmine Mikell, and five siblings — Karsen, Avery, Olivia, Lizzy and Lily Baxter.
Celebration of life services will be held for Jasmine on Sunday, May 19 at the Gloverville Community Park and on Sunday, May 26 at the Langley Pond Recreation Area.
