Longtime Today producer heading to Tonight Show

Yet another defection at “Today.”
Jennifer Long — one of the NBC morning show’s long-time top segment producers — is leaving the morning show after 21 years.
Long was lured by former “Today” executive producer Jim Bell to become a producer on “The Tonight Show.”
In a staff meeting on Friday, “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie tearfully said that the entire staff would be waving “pompoms,” rooting for Long’s success in her new adventure on late-night TV.
It’s just the latest in a series of exits on the popular morning show.
Senior 10 a.m. producer Adam Miller, senior 9 a.m. producer Christine Cataldi and chief investigative correspondent Jeff Rossen have all left in recent months.
(Is there something in the 30 Rock water?)
Long’s leaving party at NBC’s Midtown HQ later on Friday was also attended by talent from other networks, and stars, including ABC’s Amy Robach, ’90s “Melrose Place” heartthrob Andrew Shue and WCBS/Channel 2’s Kristine Johnson.
